I shared with my Thursday class this week, that one of my first yoga teachers passed away this week. She was a bit of an unorthodox teacher, in fact I am not even sure if she ever taught yoga other than in this video. When I was a teenager, on Saturday afternoons my mom and I would put on our bathing suits and practice along. It was my first real introduction to the practice. Re-watching it this week, I noticed for the first time, that it is very much a “Hollywood” production, kind of terrible and also kind of awesome. Regardless, something about the practice of yoga stuck with me and I realized that while a good yoga teacher is important, the practice always shines through regardless of the teacher. So honors and blessings to Raquel Welch and her contribution to the long line of yoga teachers past and present.
PS. Maybe we will do a Sunday pop-up soon with the video. Bathing suits required! (Just kidding about the bathing suit part)
